Baby is a 3yr old small crossbreed (possibly Cavapoo or similar), she
is now spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, flea and worm treated
and has a clean bill of health. She will be rehomed with 5 weeks free
pet insurance.
Baby came to us after her very elderly owner was struggling to care
for her, she had sadly got into a bit of a mess and had lived quite a
sheltered life so found it all a bit scary but after a lovely pamper
with the groomer and settling into her foster home she has truly
blossomed.
Baby is a lovely little dog, she is still nervous of new people and
new situations and will bark at first but once she settles and knows
you she is a funny girl who just wants to be loved. She has really
grown in confidence in a few short weeks of being with us and is ready
to find the right patient, experienced, caring home to continue her
journey.
Baby is generally good with the other dogs in foster care and has
found them really good in building her confidence and social skills,
she can divert onto another dog when the door knocks and cause a bit
of a scuffle but this is over stimulation and can be managed in a home
with just one other dog easily but it will need commitment from a new
owner to work with this. She very much lacks doggy social skills and
sometimes gets too over the top with other dogs, her play style is
very rough, she loves wrestling and is vocal with it so needs a dog
who will play in a similar style and be tolerant and non reactive. We
do feel it's the right thing for Baby to have another confident,
young, well rounded, neutered, non reactive but very playful dog in
her new home so we won't be rehoming her as the only dog. She isnt
suited to living with older or quiet dogs, those who are used to a
quieter life would find her wayyyyy too much.
As she has settled in she has displayed a few behavioural quirks such
as trying to nip at feet at doorways on occasions so new owners need
to be confident and capable to managing this going forward, she does
get overwhelmed and over stimulated quite easily and we would hope
this will settle more in a home with less dog to arouse her.
She will bark and jump up at cats and potentially chase so needs a
feline free home, she can be rehomed with dog savvy quieter children
aged 12yrs and over (as long as it's not too busy a household).
Baby is eating well, is good with the groomer and the vets, is getting
more confident on the lead and gets excited for walks now when going
out on familiar routes with a canine friend, be aware that she will be
very scared at first in a new home and new environment and will need
slow gentle encouragement whilst she settles, she will also initially
be a flight risk. Baby will need an active home who can take her on
lots of adventures and play with her, she is a lively active dog. She
travels ok in the car, sleeps downstairs quietly at night with the
other dogs and is now 90% housetrained.
Baby does need a VERY VERY secure home, both in terms of security of
the garden but also around doorways and exits as she is a door darter
so please be mindful of this when applying.
Being fostered in Swadlincote but can be rehomed further afield to the
perfect home subject to homecheck and adoption donation of £250
