Frank is a 2yr old miniature poodle (weighing 5kg) he is castrated, microchipped, vaccinated, flea and worm treated and has a clean bill of health, he will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.
Frank came to us via another rescue after they saved him from being put to sleep when his owners had booked him in saying he was guarding a room from them and they were terrified of him. Frank can certainly show a spirited side but he has been an absolute angel with us herebut a recent rehoming attempt failed due to him growling at the male
owner when trying to physically remove him from their own bed and then stealing a sandwich and snapping and guarding when trying to retrieve it. Sadly with a dog like Frank, he needs clear boundaries and definitely not to be directly challenged over a stolen item of food, its never going to end well. Handled differently and these instances
could have been avoidable.
Frank is a typical little diva of a poodle, he bonds quickly with his people and there may be potential that he could become protective of someone but we really havent seen that here, the only issues we have witnessed is some guarding of a particular toy around other dogs and
reacting back if another dog has a go at him or makes him feel vulnerable. He loves a cuddle on your lap and is happy to be picked up.
Generally he has been good with the dogs here, even eating his food alongside several other dogs with no issues whatsoever and he really does need another playful dog larger than him in his new home. Sadly he cannot be homed with children under 14yrs or cats as he will bark and chase.
Frank was pretty thin when he originally came to us and had gained some weight since being here so we do wonder whether his guarding of human food in the kitchen of his former home was actually because he was hungry!
He walks lovely on the lead, travels well in the car, is housetrained, was great with the vet, good being groomed. He will need a home with someone who is very "dog savvy" and understands any guarding cues and most importantly handle them effectively, someone who can provide him
with plenty of exercise and interesting walks is a must. He will need a home with a nice fully enclosed garden to play with his toys in.
He is ok being left for a few hours but is used to having plenty of company so wouldnt want to be left for extensive periods.
Being fostered in Swadlincote, Derbys but can be rehomed further afield subject to homecheck and adoption donation of £250
